Stain Removers and My Wall Of Ignorance…

Having spent the majority of my life removing all manner of stains from the clothes of my dirty ex-husband and dirty children, I found myself doing some basic maths to work out what I must have spent over the years. Is it random – Yes. Not surprisingly, it was a lot of money, as one would expect of purchases made for decades.  However, one thing in particular irked me a great deal. I’ve always been a strong advocate of these “Magic Cleaners” or “Vanish Cleaners”, as it’s allowed me to reduce temperatures and minimise damage and rewashing of clothes. However, there was me thinking the magic cleaners contain some expensive and clever ingreditant, produced by scientists in enormous, secretive clean-rooms or laboratories. Rubbish!  The magic chemical is sodium percarbonate, which in essence, is a powdered form of hydrogen peroxide! My Mother used to put hydrogen peroxide solution (diluted of course) on cuts or grazes we had, to prevent infection I assume now. Chemists still sell it to this day – I’ve seen it. Why was I irked? Because of the cost, and the suggestion the product is “magic”.

The "Magic" Ingrediant..
Sodium Percarbonate – The “Magic” Ingrediant In Stain Removers…

You can buy sodium percarbonate as it is, from Amazon, and the cost is hugely cheaper than the “Vanish” brands I’ve been buying all my life. The following video explained sodium percarbonate perfectly! Well, no more! No more taking advantage of my ignorance  by certain purveyors of “Miracle” cleaners, whose owners are no doubt tanning their enormous bellies on the balcony of their Cypriot or Spanish villa/s. I’ll buy oxygen bleach from now, as it’s also known, to be my straight-forward stain remover. I bought this exact product, and upon using it, smacked my bum like the ladies in the supermarket adverts do. A useful tip indeed, and my wall of ignorance has crumbled a little more today. Having learned this, I think I’ll continue to chip away at – who knows, maybe one day I’ll be able climb over it. And if I stain my dress in the act, then I’ll worry not, and reach for my new product…

Who Am I?

My name is Ann. I have arthritis, a hatred of men, and this blog is a chance for me to vent and educate, on any topics that takes my fancy. Having been prompted by my sons that miscontrue bullying for “encouragement”,  I’ve decided to take up one of these “website” thingies. If anyone is interested in reading them that’s great, if not, then hazard a guess as to what I think you might do..  ..    🙂
